In the picture the Depresion of Lozoya. Is a structural depression located at the center of the Iberian Peninsula, exactly at the north of Madrid, within the Sistema Central. This depression, was formed during the Alpine Orogenic movements acting over the preexiting blocks of the Hercinic Cycle, at this time was the independization of the Tajo Basin, the formation of the Sierra de Altomira and the Depresion Intermedia. The graben appears limited by two faults running perpendicular to the picture sight, in this case, the two fault fronts has been exhumated by erosion showing so the line of fault scarp. The uplifted blocks: at the NW Somorriera-Guadarrama and to the SE the Sierra de la Cuerda Larga.
